HMI

The HMI is freely configurable, based on simple and compound graphical java elements. 

The samples below and in the further chapters show various designs, developed together with our customers.

The HMIs support different sizes and resolutions of touch panels, starting with 5.7” backup systems, 7”, 10.4”, 12.1” as well as larger touch panels.

In addition to this the integration of the HMI in special windows within third party Linux or Windows based computers.

Flexible User Interface at the Operator Position

The new Java HMI enable seamless flexibility of the operator position HMI.

The features include beside standard functionality: 

• Flexible assignment of audio sources (A/G, G/G, IA, Intercom) to the different audio devices dependent on Equipment detect of the connected device, global settings, operator settings;
• Flexible, role/mission dependent HMI, button assignment, allowances and duties
• Enhanced phone communication features including a wide range of group calls and predefined conferencing and intercom features
• Enhanced radio control including beside coverage selection control of multi-frequency radios, mission control
• Role management from operator position
• Supplementary technical access with availability and local test features
• Check lists function shared with other positions

Radio Communications

The system supports a wide range of radio channel operation functions including the following basic features: 

• Operational modes: Off/silent/monitor/traffic mode
• Add/remove of radio channels according to operator’s role rights
• Radio channel specific selection of receivers and transmitters
• Radio channel specific volume adjustment
• BSS (best signal selection) based on Fast Fourier Transformation of the received signals
• ATS (automatic transmitter selection) (BTS)
• Automatic Transmitter Selection based on BSS receiver localisation or automatic transmitter verification
• Climax, parallel keying of transmitters using frequency offset
• Cross-Coupling (retransmission) (symmetric and asymmetric retransmission) selectable for all frequencies available at the operator position. Coupling groups with compatible frequencies may be pre-configured
• PTT Timeout is supported not only at operator position, but also at the interface level. After the timeout is reached, the resulting PTT is immediately released and an error message is indicated at the management system
• SCT Indication, Allerting on Simultaneous Transmission Recognition. The system supports the alerting on SCT

Enhanced Radio Features

Beside the standard features listed above, the following supplementary functions are available: 

• Networking: Integrated radio networking including sharing of frequencies and radios between centres (radio export)
• Multi frequency channel control: Including control modes for multi-channel radio pool access and commutation by backup radio
• Sharing between systems: Common usage of radio channels by several, networked systems enabling airspace delegation, including coupling over several systems
• Usage Rights: Operator role right specific allowance & duty for radio channel usage
• SELCAL: Dialling to alert desired aircraft
• Mission control: Supplementary military functions such as seizure of radio channels for mission operation
• Dedicated Tx-Keys: Up to Two individual, channel specific Tx-Keys per operator position. This enabled Tx-Key dependent transmission on groups of channels in traffic mode
• Seized Holding to reserve guaranteed access and control on dedicated radios, which are needed for a mission
• Speed dialling

Telephony

• Programmable DA-keys for direct access to any kind of telephone number, group call, predefined conference call, intercom call
• Mixture of role dependent and global DA-key assignment
• Visual grouping of DA-Buttons by assignment dependent colour frames
• Group call, where when executed, a parallel call to all croup members is initiated
• Manual dial pad with possibility to locally store numbers
• Redial function
• Queuing for calls; Indication of the position to others as engaged, as long as the configured queue is no full. Indication of busy, when the queue is full
• Buzzer: Volume control, melody control, beep for concurrent call during active connection, special announcement of urgent calls
• Selective pick-up of calls from the queue or from the corresponding DA-key
• Status indications on the telephone stack buttons and the DA-keys
• Unlimited number of direct access keys accessible on several pages or sub-pages
• Unlimited indirect access to any number of subscribers
• Hold for 5 calls or more depending on queue size
• Conference with any number of subscribers in the system, further participants can at any time be added, participants can at any time leave the conference
• Call sequences to handle unavailable subscribers (alternative numbers)
• Call pick-up of calls to other positions
• Automatic re-dial for busy subscribers or congested trunks
• Access codes for telephone networks and trunks with automatic selection of a free channel
• Call routing for VoIP, ED-137B Volume 2, ATS R2/No.5 (MFC‑R2/N5) and ATS QSIG calls including alternative trunk selection based on the result of Alarm
• periodical link testing
• Call Transfer (Friendly transfer with announcement to destination as well as forwarding to a destination without announcement supported).
• Diversion (forwarding) of all incoming calls to other operator positions, with or without acknowledgement of the receiving position. Multiple diversions, chains are supported. The system automatically refuses loops.
• Caller identification is displayed where known (depending upon the origin of the information, e.g. PABX)
• Display of all incoming calls together, with their priority
• Priority key use to increase the priority of an outgoing call; to break into an active telephone connection or to set a high priority before initiating a call (e.g. VoIP, ATS R2/No.5 call)
• Priority intrusion: This ends up in a conference call between the ongoing call of the called party and the caller with increased priority
• Priority interruption: In case of limited connections, an ongoing call will be interrupted by a high priority call, a warning tone hearable prior to interruption
• Automatic rerouting to alternative links, on failure
• Automatic usage of alternative numbers on failure, on busy, in case of timeout on no success
• Transit-Call service for ATS calls, supporting forward restrictions and loop avoidance
• Role dependent base-priority
• Instantaneous Access (IA) / Hotline intercom with monitoring of all voice communications of the called position (full duplex and active in parallel with ongoing phone and radio communications)
• Prevention of connection loop-backs

Supplementary Functions

Beside the standard phone functions, the following supplementary phone features are available: 

• Global phone book supporting more than 1000 subscribers with sort and scroll functionality as well as possibility to assign important numbers to a local phone book for rapid access
• Call registry, which enables fast access to received, missed or done outgoing calls
• Indication of conference call participants with individual status indication in a list in the participating operator positions HMI
• Enhanced group call, where the ringer presentation can be freely configured for each group participant individually (e.g.: “role assistant”: optical and ringer, “role planner”: optical and beep, “Role radar controller”: only optical indication
• Predefined conferences, where several participants are invited in parallel
• Predefined conference with voice page (broadcast) announcement to all participants with operator positions
• Meet-Me Conference calls with invitation of a preconfigured group of participants
• Indication of active ongoing meet me conference calls on DA-keys, with the possibility to join the meet-me conference by touching the button; Group calls to address a number of subscribers with configurable suppression of audible call indication for any participant
• Voice page (broadcast) group call with individual answer capability by any subscriber addressed
• Voice page (broadcast) conference call enabling announcement prior to the automatic setting up of the conference
• The use of exclusion lists (Whitelists & Blacklists), which can be individually applied to operator roles
• Telephone to radio channel coupling function
